I worked closely with Steve for several years in Pharmaceutical R&D at Bausch &Lomb.  Steve’s wide breadth of knowledge and experience renders him a valuable cross-functional resource.   Specifically, I have seen Steve excel at counseling and leading teams ranging from:

  • Discovery to development...
  • OTC to generics to proprietary products ...
  • Small molecules to proteins...
  • Industry to academia...

...Steve’s broad expertise gives him a unique toolbox from which to provide his most valuable contributions – leadership, teamwork, and collaboration.

I worked with Steve from the time he entered the pharmaceutical industry until the time he began working on eye health products just a few years ago.  These years included Steve as a young scientist in the lab working on the characterization and formulation of peptide and protein therapeutics. This was in the early days of proteins as therapeutic agents.  Steve showed himself an innovator in ways to characterize and develop proteins with adequate CMC information to meet an evolving regulatory environment.

Steve possesses an uncanny proficiency to tackle and solve complex multidisciplinary problems...

I have worked with and around Steve Davio since 1999 while we were both with Pharmacia (now Pfizer).  Steve is a diligent, hard-working, details kind of guy who is also very strong technically in pharmaceutical development.... As Corporate Senior Vice President of R&D and Chief Scientific Officer at Bausch & Lomb, I specifically recruited Steve and a number of his colleagues from Pharmacia to build our high class pharmaceutical development execution capability....

Steve has been a highly engaged and productive collaborator in our efforts to measure tear film parameters and correlate them to symptomology and dry eye conditions.  Steve is highly productive in interdisciplinary research and could work easily across disciplines.  His knowledge of ocular pharmaceuticals and their physical properties has been invaluable as we developed and applied objective and noninvasive technologies to measure their effect on tear film dynamics within the blink cycle in human subjects.  Steve's insight into drug composition has provided insight into how various formulations may interact favorably with the various tear film components to enhance the protection of the ocular surface.
